1. Introduction
GroceryComp (“the App”) is developed and maintained by Nexovia LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
By using GroceryComp you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
GroceryComp does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). The app does not require an account, sign-up, or login.
All comparison data, saved lists, and history are stored locally on your device using an encrypted Room database. This data never leaves your device via GroceryComp.
- Camera permission — used only by Google ML Kit to scan barcodes on-device. No images or frames are transmitted to any server.
- Internet permission — used only for Google AdMob ad serving (free tier) and the Google Play in-app billing flow when purchasing Pro. GroceryComp itself does not send data to any external server.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information
- Location data
- Contacts, messages, or any other device data
- Photos — barcode scanner images are processed on-device and immediately discarded after recognition
4. Third-Party Services
The following third-party services are integrated in GroceryComp and operate under their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob — serves banner ads in the free tier. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers (GAID) in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing — processes the one-time $2.99 Pro purchase. Payment data is handled entirely by Google Play. GroceryComp never receives or stores payment information.
- Google ML Kit (on-device) — barcode and text recognition runs entirely on-device. No images, frames, or text results are transmitted to Google or any third party by GroceryComp.
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g., feature usage counts). No PII is included. Data is governed by Firebase's Privacy and Security documentation.
- Firebase Crashlytics — anonymous crash reports containing device model, OS version, and stack traces. No PII is included.
5. Data Storage and Deletion
Because GroceryComp stores all data locally on your device, you have full control over it:
- To delete all app data, go to your device's Settings → Apps → GroceryComp → Clear Data.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained by Google for a period defined in their respective policies, using anonymous device identifiers only.
6. Children's Privacy
GroceryComp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at support@nexovia.cloud and we will take appropriate steps.
7. Your Rights
Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions about analytics data, contact us at support@nexovia.cloud.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date at nexovia.cloud/grocerycomp/privacy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
